As a continuation of the artwork ‘Second Home‘, this element represents further remnants of the timber house construction.
The ‘waste’ sawdust from the construction of ‘Second Home’, was collected and reformed to create a birdhouse using pine resin – itself a ‘waste’ product of trees. At a scale of 1/75 of the original house, it faced the same Northern direction to protect potential nesters from the sun and wind.
The project looks to raise questions around the value, use and space of material. What we lose when it is disposed of and what we stand to gain, when it is reinvested.
